DEPARTMENTS

Arts Department
The Arts Department will meet on the third Monday of the month at 1:00 p.m. at the Chatham Community Center. The Department was organized to enjoy learning and discovering together the wonderful world of the arts (music, drama, painting, sculpture, film, etc.); to encourage members' creative interests and talents; and to support and participate in artistic activities on Cape Cod and elsewhere. Programs will take place in members' homes and field trips.

At most meetings, other artistic events are mentioned to enlist support for cultural activities on Cape Cod and elsewhere. These are culled from web sites, magazines and newspaper listings . Meetings are usually held at 1 pm on the second or third Mondays in the CCC or as indicated. New members are always welcome. If interested, please contact Barbara Keith or Jeanne Carley.
Wednesday, October 22nd
• Arts Department - 1PM at the Cape Cod Cultural Center, Yarmouth, Works in Progress Festival and tour of the cultural center galleries.
Monday, November 17th
• Arts Department - 1PM - Chatham Community Center (club room) Speaker: Joanne Dray, Chatham artist and interior decorator on Art & Decorating.

American Heritage Department
The American Heritage Department was launched to "enhance knowledge and appreciation of the history or our nation, particularly in New England, by a series of visits to historic sites and museums, meetings with speakers on local history, and reading about historic persons and events."

Members who wish to join the department each year are asked for $5 to support mailings. The American Heritage Department usually meets at 10 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday morning of the month from October through June. Contact chairman Edee Crowell or Vice Chairman Priscilla Oliver.

Wednesday, November 19th
• American Heritage Department 10AM - Slide show by Mary Ann Gray at the Atwood House, comparing early & current views of Chatham's Old Village businesses.

Conservation Department
The Conservation Department meets at members' homes at 1:00 PM on the 4th Monday of the month from October until May (excluding December and February). First meeting is October 22nd. Co chairmen Joanna Schurmann and Ruth Tichenor will present speakers who will share their knowledge and expertise on Chatham's crucial conservation and preservation issues, as well as those that are pertinent to the entire Cape. There is an active membership, but we also extend a welcome to prospective new members.
Monday, October 27th
• Conservation Department - 1PM at Monomoy Yacht Club, Bridge Street, Chatham. Speaker: Mike Brady, new manager, National Wildlife Refuge on Morris Island will speak on the curre Monday, November 24thnt concerns and challenges.

• Conservation Department - 1PM at Chatham Community Center. Speaker: Cheri Armstrong, teacher & librarian Chatham Elementary School will discuss sharing lessons about the environment.

CWC Book Club
TheCWC Book Club meets at 1:00 pm on the third Thursday of the month at the Chatham Community Center. Books selected for reading are reviewed by a member, followed by an open discussion. Refreshments are served. Annual dues are $5. We welcome new members.Co-chairman are Suzanne Burley and Sharon Oudemool.

Legislative Department
The Legislative Department meets on the third Friday of the month in members' homes and presents a speaker each month on a topic of interest to members. To join the department, contact Chairmen Barbara Lynyak or Sue Pitt. Meetings begin at 10:00 a.m.

Friday, November 21st
• Legislative Department - 10AM at the home of Joan Ristuccia. Speaker: Mary Aseltine, historian. Topic: Customs and laws of courtship and marriage in colonial times.
