The Chatham Woman's Club Cookbook It is not a unique idea for a woman's club to create a cookbook filled with delectable recipes contributed by its members. And it is often a way to fund charitable activities over the course of a year or two. But the Chatham Woman's Club Cookbook will be unique because of our distinctive members and the exceptional place we live -- Chatham and Harwich on Cape Cod. The Club is hoping to have submissions of up to 500 of your recipes for the project, as well as recipes from Chatham's and Harwich's best professional chefs. Cookbook Project leaders Peggy Sullivan Crespo and RoseMarie McLoughlin are asking members to contribute some of their favorite recipes using the Recipe Submission Form. How To Submit Your Recipes If you are having any difficulty in sending the complete forms by email, call Regina McDowell, webmaster. Your recipes should be placed in one of eight categories: Appetizers (Hors d’oeuvres) & Beverages, Breads & Rolls, Soups & Salads, Desserts, Vegetables & Side Dishes, Cookies & Candy, Entrées (Main Dishes), and Miscellaneous. Recipes will be carefully reviewed by the cookbook committee -- some will be tested. Contributors may be called for questions regarding the recipes they submit if they need carification. When all recipes have been reviewed, the committee will then work on additional book contents, format, colors, and the book cover. In addition to member recipes, we will be asking local Chatham and Harwich chefs for recipes to be included in a special local restaurant section in the book. The goal is to go to print by the fall of 2009 and begin selling the books as soon as they are received. A major selling push will be planned for the 2010 season and we hope to enlist local businesses for support in having our books in their stores for sale. In addition, the committe plans to have members volunteer to sell the books at a table in downtown Chatham on Saturday mornings. This project may be the jumping off point for some of our fabulous cooks to get some recognition, for our members to add to their hospitality knowledge, and a way to generate a steady flow of revenue for the club to support its charitable activity.
